Dear God...

St. James Cathedral has given up worshiping You, and is now fully in the service of Bono and his 21st century eco-peace crusade.

For you atheists and eco-religionists in Toronto, St. James Cathedral will be happy to host you this evening to listen to the hymns of U2.

Save a life and it's a cult; blow up a pizzaria and it's a religion

I abhor freak cults of all kinds, from the Raelians to the Jehova's Witnesses to Scientology. And I have - on more than one occasion - described Islam as a cult of sex and death. I believe this to be true. And I believe that its adherents are brainwashed into believing that if you murder in the name of Mohammed and Allah, you will get laid a lot in Paradise. Islam is a dangerous cult along the lines of Jonestown or the Branch Davidians. They need to be listed as a cult and cleaned out by the FBI.

So imagine my dismay when I read that a member of a Christian Jesus-freak cult wanted to donate a kidney to a sick woman here in Toronto, but the surgery has been cancelled because his parents and hospital authorities fear religious brainwashing. Muslims are allowed to walk around hiding God-knows-what under their black burlap garb and they are afforded "freedom of religion", but this guy can't save a woman's life.

The case has been closely tracked by an Australian film crew because the would-be donor, 22-year-old Ash Falkingham of Sydney, belongs to the controversial Jesus Christians, the "kidney cult" whose members believe that giving up an organ to save someone's life is an exemplary act of devotion to God and humankind.

The Toronto General Hospital cancelled the scheduled transplant following accusations of religious brainwashing, appeals from Mr. Falkingham's mother and stepfather to stop the surgery, and extensive psychiatric assessments of the man after his arrival in Canada.

Remember kids: Killing Jews is an okay religious practice, but don't try to give a kidney to save a life. Only cults do that.

What the hell is this world coming to?

Best paragraph ever written?

The Charter is merely a list of then-current Received Liberal Pieties and should have as much bearing on the average Canadian's life as a six-year-old Chinese takeout menu. If written today it would include a clause making the separation of paper and glass mandatory for all householders, every other Wednesday. I do my best to ignore the Charter and so should any thoughtful person.

Muslims arrested for anti-Jewish hate-crimes in Montreal: Can-CAIR makes a funny

Two Russian Muslims were arrested for firebombing a Jewish community center and for plotting kidnapping and armed robbery. The Canadian arm of CAIR goes for the amusing and over-used Religion of Peace routine:

Sarah Elgazzar, of the Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations, expressed dismay the accused are Muslims and hoped that fact wouldn't increase the animosity between the Jewish and Muslim communities in Montreal.

"Religiously speaking, Jews and Muslims should be so close," she said. "Sure, there are differences, and there are problems in other parts of the world, but that doesn't justify these kinds of attacks.

"Most Muslims would never even think of doing something like that; it’s horrible."

Just in time for Easter

While Kathy has the subject of Easter zombies well covered, I'm more interested in National Geographic Channel's attempt to debunk the faith of billions of people around the world.

Welcome to Sacred Scandal Month, where almost everything in their listings ends with "But did it really happen?"

Why this incessant need to debunk Christianity? I don't remember programs during Ramadan about how Mohammed was merely a sun-addled, spaced out pedophile looking for a way to strike it rich (and fuck small children in the process). We get this during Christmas, Easter, death of Popes etc. Enough already. Show a little backbone and go pick on the Muslims.

Australian Muslims buy into the "uncovered meat" cleric's BS

A Muslim cleric who whipped up a storm last year when he told his Sydney flock that women who don't wear the veil invite rape has been endorsed as the supreme leader of Australia's 300,000 Muslims.

Clerics from around the country meeting in Sydney decided Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali, 67, should keep the post of Mufti of Australia that he has held since 1988.

Prime Minister John Howard last year urged Muslims to dump al- Hilali, as did New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma.

Earlier this year al-Hilali raised the ire of Australians when he said Muslim migrants had a greater entitlement to the country than those who arrived at the time of colonial settlement.

"We came as free people, we bought our own tickets, we are entitled to Australia more than they are," al-Hilali told a television station in his native Egypt.

Howard called on Muslims to show a willingness to join the mainstream by ditching their controversial leader.

Al-Hilali, an Australian citizen, has been censured before for his extremist views and each time the Muslim community has closed ranks behind him.

He made international headlines when he told the congregation at Sydney's largest mosque that a woman in revealing clothes was herself to blame for sexual assault "because if she hadn't left the meat uncovered the cat wouldn't have snatched it."

After the remarks, 34 Muslim community organizations signed a petition urging al-Hilali to defy calls for him to stand down.

The Aussie Muslims have made their choice. Now they have to live with any consequences of that choice, including mosque raids, terror arrests, deportations and so on. They were given the chance to deny terror and Muslim brutality, and they turned their backs on that choice.

Once more we must ask, where were the "moderate Mulsims" during all this? Where was the outcry? Where were the letters to parliament denouncing the cleric and asking that he be removed?

Could it be because there is no moderation in Islam? It is an all or nothing religion. You either live by it, or you die from it. Now if only the rest of us would accept that, we might have a chance of putting a stop to it.

Excellent article on the eye-opening experiences of a liberal

I haven't read LaShawn in a few weeks, so I missed this when she posted it last week. It is the story of Phyllis Chesler, a former professor of (what else?) Women's Studies who married a Muslim and moved to Afghanistan. What she found there challenged her liberal thinking, to say the least.

Long before the rise of the Taleban, I learnt not to romanticise Third World countries or to confuse their hideous tyrants with liberators. I also learnt that sexual and religious apartheid in Muslim countries is indigenous and not the result of Western crimes — and that such "colourful tribal customs" are absolutely, not relatively, evil.

Indeed.

Even the Imams are Converting?

This is an interesting story, and I hope it signals a trend.

One of the top Islamic leaders in Iran accepted Christ and left the country after facing death threats and imprisonment, according to an Iranian pastor living in the U.S.

The imam watched satellite programming supplied by TBN Nejat TV (www.nejattv.org), according to Reza Safa, founder and president of Harvesters World Outreach. TBN Nejat TV is the first all-Christian network in the Persian language, broadcasting 24/7 into Iran and other Middle Eastern countries.

The imam called one of the phone counselors connected to TBN Nejat TV and prayed to receive Christ in early February. "The man has been watching our TV programs for the past two years," Safa noted. "He said he has believed since he began watching the programs but his salvation was sealed through his confession."

"This man knows all the verses of the Qur'an by heart," he added. "After he began watching, doubt began in his heart about the Islamic faith." The man spent nine months in prison after he questioned the violence of radical Islam. Following his release from prison, he faced numerous death threats and escaped the country.

Several other religious leaders may follow suit. "He knows four other high-ranking imams that are in the same condition and want to leave Iran," Safa said. [emphasis mine]

Interesting, but they don't give the imam's name. Is that because of security fears, or because the story isn't true? I tried running it through Snopes, but came up empty. I would really like to believe that even Islams leaders have had enough of the violence and are seeking a home in Christ.

Convert or Die

Hell of an ultimatum! The Religion of Peace has set its collective 7th Century sights on a tiny ancient religious sect in Iraq, and is calling for them to either convert to Islam or die.

The Mandaeans are pacifists, followers of Adam, Noah and John the Baptist.

They have lived in what is now Iraq since before Islam and Christianity.

More than 80% have been forced to flee the country and now live as refugees in Syria and Jordan.

We're busy listening to Al Gore weep hot toxic tears for the polar bear - of which we have plenty, and besides, the meat is terribly stringy - but there are less than seventy thousand of these Mandaeans left in the world. Fair enough, cultures die out. Dying is a part of living. But murder is just plain wrong.

Nine-year-old Selwan likes watching cartoons and playing football.

But he is too scared to leave his flat. The other children tease him.

He has burns all down the side of his face and on 20% of his body.

He was kidnapped by Islamic militants who forced him to jump into a bonfire - because he is Mandaean.

I meet Luay. He is too scared to be identified and does not want to use his full name.

He was dragged off the street by armed men and forcibly circumcised - a practice not allowed in the Mandaean religion.

He is 19 and is now unlikely ever to find a bride from his own faith.

Worse, he was forcibly converted. That means in the eyes of those same extremists if he now declares himself Mandaean he is apostate.

That makes him a traitor to Islam, who may be murdered. He says he will not be safe in any Muslim country.

The Dean Esmay's of the world can bury their heads in the sand for fear of offending their friends named Ali. But this truly is a clash of civilizations. The peaceful being forced at the point of a sword to join the violent - or die.

The Fashion Police

No, this isn't about Britney's ill-advised brush cut. It's about yet another Islamic religious fanatic deciding that if some chick doesn't have her head covered, she ought to have a bullet in it.

Police said the bearded lone attacker, identified as Mohammad Sarwar, approached the minister as party activists threw rose petals at her, took out his pistol and shot her in the head.

Local police officer Nazir Ahmad said: "He killed her because she was not observing the Islamic code of dress. She was also campaigning for emancipation of women.

Dirtbag. But remember: his religion taught him this. His mother and father made sure he learned his religious lessons - like so many other Muslim families. When the word of your Holy Book is KILL, you learn to kill.

It is not a religion that can live alongside civilized society. It must be branded as the cult that it is, and its followers re-taught to embrace life. No, they don't have to become Christians or Jews or Scientologists (while we're on the subject of nutter cults). They can become a New Islam. Better than before, without the hatred and murder and cancerous ideology. For that is what Islam is: A cancerous ideology that chooses death over life, and murder for a shot at Paradise. Apologists must cease to apologize, and moderates must learn to speak up. And until they do, I will continue to hold the magnifying glass over this most despicable culture.

Religion of Peace Mows Down Students in Nashville

The news that the MSM doesn't want you to know. There's nary a story to be found on this - luckily Robert Spencer picked it up at Jihad Watch.

Two students visiting from Ohio were coming from a bar downtown when they got into an argument with their driver over religion, said police. After they paid the driver he allegedly ran them down in a parking lot.

Ibrihim Ahmned, of United Cab, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted homicide and theft. One of the passengers, Andrew Nelson, managed to outrun the cab but Jeremy Invus was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries, said police.

Here's a tip, people. When you call a taxi, let the dispatcher know you're travelling with a guide dog or something. The hard-core Muslims won't take your fare, and they'll send a white guy to pick you up. No fuss, no muss, no Muslim. The safer way to travel - especially for women. Also means that Mohammed or Ahmed or whomever won't have your fare dollars to send back home to the sand-pit they were born in to fund global terrorism.

This travel tip brought to you by the one-woman counter-Jihad machine: RightGirl.

The truth hurts

Andrew McLuskey was sacked from Bayliss Court Secondary School in Slough after a Religious Education lesson discussing the pros and cons of religion.

Pupils at the predominantly Muslim school claimed Mr McLuskey said most suicide bombers were Muslim.

A secondary school. These were not small kids. These were young adults learning about religion. And right now, all over the world, Muslims are turning themselves into human bombs in the name of religion.

Perhaps Mr. McLusky would still be employed if he had taught the Religion of Peace canard. Or if he had taught the state religion of political correctness instead. Perhaps if he hadn't taught them anything at all, but instead made up lies and misconceptions, he may still be working. Better that kids never know a damn thing about the world beyond the school doors, right?

This story doesn't indicate if he taught them about suicide bombers in a factual or in a biased manner. Was he actually slurring the Muslim faith (not that I have a problem with that, but that doesn't mean he should get away with it in a school)? Or was he simply stating a fact: that most suicide bombers are muslim?

If it was the latter, than the UK has sunk even lower into the Msulim mire than first thought.

Out of the shadows

First I want to apologize for not being able to blog this week. It's been a rough one - just work and stuff. Nothing deadly. Thanks for sticking around and checking in on me.

Anyway, on to the content. Once more my Paranoid pal has impressed me with his prose in discussing the residents of Herouxville, Quebec. They have taken the dark side of multiculturalsims out of the shadows and into their town council meetings, where it was openly discussed and tossed out like last night's mucky bathwater.

We would especially like to inform the new arrivals that the lifestyle they left behind in their birth country cannot be brought here with them and they would have to adapt to their new social identity...We consider that men and women are of the same value... a woman can: drive a car, vote, sign checks, dance, decide for herself, speak her peace, dress as she sees fit, walk alone in public places, have a job, have her own belongings and anything else that a man can do..killing women in public beatings, or burning them alive are not part of our standards of life...We listen to music, we drink alcoholic beverages in public or private places, we dance and at the end of every year we decorate a tree with balls and tinsel and some lights. This is normally called "Christmas Decorations" or also "Christmas Tree" letting us rejoice in the notion of our national heritage...boys and girls play the same games and often play together. If you came to my place we would send the kids to swim together in the pool, don't be surprised this is normal for us…..

This has, of course, caused a great deal of ruffled feathers among the (multi)cultural elite across Canada. The mighty Paranoid One puts them in their place as only he can.

Clearly these Herouxville troglodytes - these ignorant Catholic peasants - have refused to be converted to the religion of multiculturalism. Damn heretics. Imagine, here we are, in 21st century Canada, and there are still people around clinging to the absurd notion that Canada’s founding cultures should be celebrated, protected and perpetuated.

Something apparently drove these people over the edge. What could it have been I wonder? Did they wake up one morning and suddenly notice that Canada has largely become a nation with no history and no shared values or identity? Did they become concerned about their small community suffering the same sad fate?.

Did they somehow clue in that the term 'multiculturalism' is really code for: 'destroy whitey's culture' and decide that participating in the destruction of their own culture was, well, kinda stupid?

Let's quaranatine the Muslims!

No, really.

A MUSLIM doctors' leader has provoked an outcry by urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella because it is "un-Islamic".

Dr Abdul Majid Katme, head of the Islamic Medical Association, is telling Muslims that almost all vaccines contain products derived from animal and human tissue, which make them "haram", or unlawful for Muslims to take.
Islam permits only the consumption of halal products, where the animal has had its throat cut and bled to death while God's name is invoked.

Islam also forbids the eating of any pig meat, which Katme says is another reason why vaccines should be avoided, as some contain or have been made using pork-based gelatine.

I was sitting in my doctor's office a couple of months back, and I noticed a poster on her wall about child vaccinations. It said that by law, all kids had to be vaccinted before they would be allowed in Ontario public schools. Makes sense to me. What's the point in having my kid vaccinated if the kid he or she sits next to is carrying polio or mumps? My kid is still going to end up getting sick. Anyhow, at the bottom of this poster was a note saying that if you did not wish to have your child vaccinated for personal or religious reasons (which pretty much covers laziness, which would be a personal reason), then you had to call the Ministry of Health for an exception. What good does that do? My little Bobby has to sit next to a filthy and diseased Mohammed or Fatima, just because their parents don't believe in preventing polio??

There is already evidence of lower than average vaccination rates in Muslim areas, reducing the prospect of the "herd immunity" needed to curb infectious diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella.
Katme's appeal reflects a global movement by some hardline Islamic leaders who are telling followers to refuse vaccines from the West.

In Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of India, Muslims have refused to be immunised against polio after being told that the vaccines contain products that the West has deliberately added to make the recipients infertile.

Katme said he was bringing the message to Britain after analysing the products used for the manufacture of the vaccines.

Right. Health and science is haram to people living in the seventh century. Whatever. Islam is a cult that embraces death, so if they don't want to protect their kids from possible fatal diseases, that's their choice. But that means I have to be doubly cautious where my own (hypothetical) children are concerned. I guess I can't let them go to public school with these little disease-bags, right? And what about just going to a movie, or riding a crowded subway? I'm not going to keep my (hypothetical) Mary or Scotty locked up because Ahmed has TB. I say, lock up Ahmed!

The Muslims have found one more way to put our lives at risk. And this time they're going after our kids. Quarantine 'em. Don't let them out in society until they're clean enough not to pose a biological risk to our children. And if they want to emigrate here, instate an Ellis Island-style vaccination and quarantine system, or just don't let them in.

You are perfectly welcome to your religious views, but not at the sake of the health of others.

(as an aside, if while they are all in quarantine, the incidences of terror-related acts happen to decline markedly, remember that it's probably just a coincidence....)

Christian Freedom 1, Political Correctness 0

An update on something I blogged about a while ago and am too lazy to go looking for right now:

British Airways has given to demands to allow its Christian staff to wear religious symbols.

From February 1, any of the airline's 34,000 staff who wear a uniform will be able to openly wear a symbol of faith, including a cross and chain.

Having the Archbishop of Canterbury and several MPs say they'll boycott the national airline is obviously effective.

I love a happy ending.

We don't need no education!

Honor killing in Pakistan.

A Pakistani fruit vendor shot dead his sister because she had a job and was studying for a university degree, a police official in conservative North West Frontier Province said.

Naheeda Bibi, 22, was shot three times by her brother on Sunday near her village outside Mansehra city, as she went to catch a bus to return to Rawalpindi where she studied and worked.

"The brother, Gul Shahzad, has no remorse and says she defied him and her father," local police officer Mohammad Afzal told Reuters by telephone.

"He kept on screaming after he surrendered to the police that she met the destiny willed for her by God," he said.

Our equals, indeed.

Brainstorming a CBC TV Show

Imagine if you will, that someone comes up with the idea for a show, and gets a bunch of government (read: taxpayer) money to produce it. Then they broadcast it on government (read: taxpayer) funded television.

What do you think my show should be like? What if it were a comedy? A comedy like Archie Bunker - a real classic that made fun of minorities and Catholics. Do you think All in the Family would get made today, and if so, do you think it would be aired on public television? Do you think the government (read: taxpayers) would pay to be humiliated by a bigoted WASP?

Did you think Michael Richard's ranting about black audience members was just part of his schtick, and that it was funny? Hey - can we buy that on DVD? What a great routine!!

I've got a great idea: Let's make it a Catholic comedy, and then we can have scenes like this:

Daughter walks into the room in a midi-top.

Father: Oh my! You can't wear that! You look like a protestant!

Daughter: Don't you mean a prostitute?

Father: No, I mean a Protestant!

Cue the laugh track! The Catholics are making fun of the Protestants, what a hoot!

And of course, we have to have dumb black guys. What's funnier than dumb black guys, right?? The dumber the better, with popping eyes, big hair, and a rake or shovel, because that's all blacks do, if they're not on welfare, right? Or maybe an urban black kid, with a do-rag, baggy pants and a gun in his quilted jacket that he wears in July. I'm sure the black community won't mind. I mean, it isn't like it's offensive or anything.

But we better not have any Muslims in the show. You know how touchy they can be. We wouldn't want to offend them - not on a government (read: taxpayer) station! There could be lawsuits, protests, beheadings, even! No, that won't do. Or if we do put them in the show, we should maybe have them make fun of the black guy. What do you mean lots of Muslims are black? Oh. Maybe take the black guy out, and put in more Muslims. There, problem solved. But then, who's going to be the dumb guy? I mean, we can't make it one of the Muslim guys - they'd have CAIR-CAN on our asses like flies on camel dung.

So, what can we have the Muslims doing that won't offend them too much? We can't just have them praying all the time. Maybe we can have them telling jokes! No one would expect that!! Great idea! But, what do Muslims joke about? Do they joke? I know! We'll have them make fun of the Catholics! Or the Protestants.

Hey, how about we make one of the white guys a cop, and make him dumb? The Muslims will love that! And then we can have great jokes about where the cop is a racist, and the Muslims are comically innocent and misunderstood.

Let's make all the white guys dumb racists. Really dumb.

But then, who would utter that terribly clever line about looking like a Protestant? How about the Muslim? Yes! See, then it isn't bigotted, because Muslims are a peaceful, oppressed minority, so it doesn't matter if they make fun of the white guy. Perfect!

So now we have a show where all the white guys are dumb, and all the Muslims are funny and quick as they just try to make a life for themselves among the dumb white racists. Excellent. The viewers (read: taxpayers) will love it! And it goes without saying that any white Protestant who finds it offensive is a dumb racist - so we're covered! What should we call it?

How about: Little Mosque on the Prairie?

The Great and Powerful Oz has Spoken

What a twat.

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson predicted Tuesday a horrific terrorist act on the United States that will result in "mass killing" late in 2007.

"I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear," he said during his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network. "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."

First of all, you don't need God whispering in your ear to know shit is going to hit the fan this year. And secondly, shut up. If God really was whispering in someone's ear, I sincerely doubt it would be Robertson.

It's people like Pat Robertson who make the Christians look as wacky as the Muslims.

Behold the peace of Islam

A British Muslim called for American and Danish people to be murdered, at a protest against cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad, a court has heard.

Umran Javed, 27, of Washwood Heath Road, Birmingham, took part in the event on 3 February last year after the cartoons were published in Denmark.

Remember, this was over cartoons.

"He said disbelievers would pay a heavy price...and said Denmark would pay with blood," said Mr Perry.

Mr Javed allegedly told his audience to take lessons from the murder of a Dutch film director, who was murdered and the slaughter of Jews.

The defendant allegedly said: "Bomb, bomb Denmark. Bomb, bomb USA."

And Mr Perry claimed the crowd responded to these calls with similar calls and chants.

Religion of Peace, indeed.

Unmasked

Britain's Channel 4 Muslim message came from a convert by the name of Elaine Atkinson, a member of a radical Pakistani Islamic group who works to make Islam the world religion.

She works for the radical Minhaj ul Qur'an group from its UK base at a mosque in nearby Forest Gate - running a "sisters' group" for other female muslims, travelling the country making converts, and broadcasting on Asian local radio stations.

Minhaj ul Qur'an was established in Pakistan, but operates in 92 countries, and aims to convert the whole world in Islam.

In Pakistan the religious group has a political wing - the Pakistan People Movement - which boasts it is "actively working to establish an Islamic state in Pakistan" to ensure "muslims have an international voice and political power to relieve the ongoing oppression and subjugation of muslims around the world".

What's good for the goose...

The leaders of the Muslim community of Spain [You remember the Muslim community of Spain, right? They killed 191 people in the Madrid bombing.] have written a letter to Pope Benedict XVI demanding that their co-religionists be allowed to conduct formal prayer services at a Catholic church in Cordoba. Bishop Juan Jose Asencio of Cordoba rejected the demand saying that such a move "would not contribute to peaceful coexistence between the different creeds" and that it would "merely generate confusion among the faithful and give way to indifferentism as to religion."

The church in question, sometimes called the Cathedral-mosque of Cordoba, was indeed once a mosque for several centuries after the Muslim invasion of the 8th Century AD. After the Catholic Spaniards returned to the area in the 1200s, they found a mosque superimposed on what had once been a Visigoth Spanish church.

So, before the Muslims came in and raped and pillaged their way to salvation, it was a church. They defiled and defaced it, turned it into a mosque, and now they're whining because the Catholics got it back? Why the hell should the Catholics allow Muslims to pray there? Give us back the Hagia Sophia, and we'll talk about it.

Catholic worship is not allowed at the Blue Mosque nor at the museum in Istanbul that was a mosque before the inception of the modern Turkish state. It had been built as the Hagia Sophia Church by Byzantine Christians beginning in the 5th Century AD. Priceless mosaics and holy objects were destroyed by iconoclastic Muslims when the church was converted into a mosque in 1453 AD. Christians face persecution throughout many Muslim countries: in Saudi Arabia, for instance, all worship but that of Islam is strictly forbidden and punishable even by death.

Until then, what's good for the goose....

Better Than the World Cup

Get ready, sports fans. It's time for the annual Running of the Mohammedans at Hajj! Have you placed your Body Count bets? Do you have your televisions tuned to BBC, or Al Jazeera, or some other Islamic station? This is more exciting than the World Cup, bloodier than hockey - a fight to the death to see how many robed zealots can throw rocks at an icon of Satan at one time before being crushed to death. To me, this is like extreme fighting, Mike Tyson, Pamploma, the Stanley Cup and Las Vegas all rolled into one! All this while worshipping a black cube (which sounds more like something the Scientologists would do).

Last year, 360 people were trampled to death (this never happens at the Vatican, even when hundreds of thousands showed up for the Pope John Paul II vigil and funeral). The year before, it was 250 (never happens at Lourdes). 1990 was an exciting year, when 1426 pilgrims were killed (I've never heard of this happening at the Temple Mount).

The BBC keeps a gruesome tally here. Wiki has one here. Anyone want to place bets for this year? I'm putting it in the 175 range. Do I have any takers? Anyone? I'll bet a roast pork dinner...

Try this in Saudi Arabia

Perhaps we should all take a trip to Saudi Arabia and complain about it being non-inclusive to people of other creeds and cultures.

Justice Marion Cohen who oversees administration for the Ontario Court of Justice at 311 Jarvis St., ordered a small artificial Christmas tree, decked out in lights and ornaments, moved to an administrative corridor on Monday. In a letter to staff, she said it is a Christian symbol that might alienate people of other creeds and cultures.

The premier said the judge's move "reflects a mistaken understanding of what we're trying to do here."

"It doesn't offend anyone when we celebrate Diwali at Queen's Park or celebrate Hannukah at Queen's Park," McGuinty said. "That's part and parcel of who we are."

It's a rare day when I disagree with a Jew and agree with McGuinty, but that doesn't mean it never happens. Today is one of those rare days (you may want to mark it in your calendars).

Christian convert martyred in India

Two Muslim fundamentalists have killed a Christian who converted from Islam around 10 years ago. Bashir Ahmad Tantray was murdered in broad daylight as he chatted with Muslim friends in his village, Mamoosa, in Baramulla district. He leaves behind a wife and four children, two girls and two boys.

Ghulam Rasool Tantray, his cousin, said: "Two militants enquired about the public transport system. As soon as my cousin finished talking, they killed him." The two militants fled the scene on their motorbike.

After his conversion, Bashir dedicated himself enthusiastically to social projects and to evangelization in the area with an evangelical group. Shortly after he changed his religion, he had received threats against his life and escaped from his village, returning years later.

It is the first time that a Christian convert has been murdered in the northern state, although violence against local Christians has been on the rise for some time. Around two years ago, some Muslim militants threw grenades at the missionary school of Pulwama, while last July, a car bomb damaged another Christian school.

This in itself is hard enough to accept, but the truly sad part is at the end of the news story:

The victim did not have a Christian burial: for fear of further violence, he was buried according to Muslim rites near his home.

Not even afforded a burial according to his beliefs, his body was subjected to the rites of the faith he left behind. That takes "kicking a man when he's down" to a whole new level.

It's ok in real life, but scary in a video game...

Too funny. The world is crumbling around our ears while we concede more and more to pro-Islamic, pro-Sharia groups who want to establish a global caliphate, but dammit, a video game about wacky Christians is downright scary. You know, like America is scary, or Stephen Harper is scary.

A Christian video game has become the latest battleground in America's "culture" wars, with its maker claiming it promotes prayer while critics charge it carries a message of violent religious intolerance.

"Left Behind: Eternal Forces," is a teen-rated PC strategy game based on the wildly popular Left Behind Christian book series. Set in New York City after millions of Christians have been transported to heaven, its players are charged with recruiting, and converting, an army that will engage in physical and spiritual warfare with the Antichrist and his evil followers.

Yesterday, a U.S. advocacy group that monitors right-wing religious activities called on retail giant Wal-Mart to pull the game from its shelves.

Critics describe it as "a violent video game in which born-again Christians aim to convert or kill those who don't adhere to their extreme ideology."

Again, let me point out: It's not okay in a game, but it's totally okay in real life? War games and games with pimps and ho's are fine, but Christains are a bad influence.

This, of course, is according to liberals and faux Christains. From the Talk To Action website:

Talk to Action is a platform for reporting on, learning about, and analyzing and discussing the religious right -- and what to do about it.

There is an editorial framework for this site than that is different than you will find on other major blog sites, so please read this carefully: We are pro-religious equality and pro-separation of church and state. We are prochoice, and we support gay and lesbian civil rights -- including marriage equality. Therefore, debates about the validity of abortion and gay rights are off topic.

We understand that some people who share our general concern about the politics of the Christian Right may not agree on all of these matters. That's fine. Anyone who agrees with the general mission of this site is welcome to participate -- but bearing this in mind.

It is our intention to take the conversation forward, and not let it be held back by debating what, in our view are or should be, settled matters of human, civil and constitutional rights. Similarly, religious debates are off topic, especially debates between theism and atheism. Finally, we are nonpartisan. While political discussions are welcome, -- even central to the purpose of this site -- we do not wish the site itself to be a platform that is necessarily for or opposed to any particular party.

Uh huh. We're Christian, but whatever you do, DON'T talk to us about God! What a joke. Only a liberal could be afraid of Ned Flanders with a gun, instead of worrying about the very real likelihood that soon there will be no gays, or rights for women, or anything else they've come to love so much.
