All cultures are not equal

Kailash Singh has as good a claim as any to the accolade of world’s smelliest man – after refusing to wash for more than 37 years.

Mr Singh, 65, has not bathed or cut his 6ft-long dreadlocks since 1974, shortly after he married.

Explaining his unconventional decision, Mr Singh claimed a priest guaranteed him a much-prized son and heir if he followed the advice.

Despite neighbours joking the sweaty farmer would be lucky persuade his wife to have any children at all, his religious guidance clearly failed – he has seven daughters.

Mr Singh spends his days tending cows in 47C heat, yet the only ‘cleansing’ he does allow himself is a ‘fire bath’ each evening, which involves smoking marijuana, praying to the Hindu Lord Shiva and dancing around a bonfire.

I am better than you, Sir. My culture is better than yours, my religion is better than yours, and my aroma is way better than yours.

    He married a woman with no sensory glands; or very naive; dirty as him; under some law that would promise death if not, or the girls aren’t his. Come on- give a clue, love.

    At 47C and getting all smoked up would he know the difference between his wife and one of the cows?

    I am impressed, Miss Rightgirl. Your site has actually brought encouragement to my culturally-weary soul, especially after watching several ex-MTV VJs discuss the value of spitting in the face of authority of any kind, particularly inconvenient moral taboos.

    Your observation of the above story is right on the money. I am proud to see someone take the stand that not all cultures are equal. I hope you don’t grow out of this if it’s a phase you’re in.

    Sincerely,
    Anthony

    I used to have a small office in an East Indian owned ‘business center.’ Being the only white man in a building where everybody else stank was becoming unbearable. I do not know why some groups of people have an aversion to soap and water, but there is simply no excuse for it – not even in Canada. Someone tried telling me that its not their personal hygiene, but the food that they eat. To that, I say “bollocks.” try sharing one public washroom with over 100 east Indians, many who don’t even wash their hands after taking a dump.

    They all stink – and with few exceptions.

    Now I have a bigger office elsewhere, but upstairs from a traffic ticket office where the majority of offenders are – wait for it – east Indians, particularly cab drivers. Going downstairs to buy a pop or candy bar from a vending machine in a room full of east Indians cab drivers waiting to pay for their tickets is, well, an absolute trial to say the least.

    On hot days, they stink. When the wind is wafting upstairs to my office, it bring the stink with it. In short;

    They stink.
