Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says congressional lawmakers are discussing taking some action in response to the Koran burnings of a Tennessee pastor that led to killings at the U.N. facility in Afghanistan and sparked protests across the Middle East, Politico reports.
“Ten to 20 people have been killed,” Reid said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “We’ll take a look at this of course. As to whether we need hearings or not, I don’t know.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress might need to explore the need to limit some forms of freedom of speech, in light of Tennessee pastor Terry Jones’ Quran burning, and how such actions result in enabling U.S. enemies.
“I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war,” Graham told CBS’ Bob Schieffer on “Face the Nation” Sunday.
The Democrats weren’t so interested in prosecuting Newsweek for the false Quran-flushing story that got Americans murdered by Islamic zealots, nor the New York Times for publishing sensitive documents that put American lives in peril. No, it seems only someone who insults the enemy becomes the enemy.
Exactly which side of the war are the Democrats fighting on?
Free Speech is not a “great idea,” it’s an integral part of the United States Constitution. That pastor down in Florida – love him or loathe him – was making a political statement, which should remain free of government interference. Anything less is a violation of the First Amendment, and yet another reminder of the hypocrisy of the Left.
So,lets get this straight.We don,t want to make our enemies mad at us. therefore we must say nice things about them. If we were kicking enough ass on the battle field, what we have to say would not matter too much. Who exactly gets to decide how much freedom is too much freedom Mr. graham?
Everybody should watch the vid of this amazing woman talk about the statements those two dumbnuts made. If only we all had a mere 2% of the calibre, the courage and the OUTRAGE of this gal, Islam would be defeated before one could say “WTF”.
