Ontario’s utilities overcharged customers with late payments, and were forced to pay back the exorbitant sums.
Now, in order to make up for the loss (of money that was never theirs to begin with) , they are hiking fees across the board.
As a result, typical residential electricity customers will pay an extra 20 to 30 cents a month on their bills, for a period of one to two years.
Hands up anyone who believes that after 2 years, rates will go back down.

The Ontarionians(?) should respond to this rate increase by un-plugging all but necessary appliances and home medical equipment for one or two days per week. That will show those rat bastards! Replace burnt out light bulbs with the lowest wattage types that provide sufficient lumens to safely navigate your domicile. Use natural lightning when possible. I am replacing my burnt out incandescents with the mercury filled curly fry bulbs and only using one bulb in fixtures that normally have 2 or more. The creepy yellow-green light sucks but I’m using about 80% less energy per bulb and I’m getting along just fine with less tv and radio wasting my life.
