STFU: White Middle Class Hypocrisy

Hands up anyone who has donated to save the Haitians from disaster.

Now…

Hands up anyone who gave a flying shit about Haiti on Monday, before the earthquake, when they were still the center ring of Dante’s hell.

Yeah, I thought so.

    I love you Right Girl!

Seriously, Wendy, that is spot on. :)

  3. Andy says:

Right Girl, it’s good to see that your hiatus has not stolen that demure, sweet gal deep inside!

Good to have you back, kiddo! I mean it. :)

  4. simpleamericangirl says:

True, but what can we do about a totally f*cked up government?

  5. daveinguelph says:

Good point Wendy. The pre-teen Ryan Doyle who says he’s an uber-conservative??? Is berating people on CFRB and calling them racist & naive because they don’t want to open the flood gates, allowing thousands of them into Canada. This clown couldn’t have pointed to Haiti on a map never mind give two craps about before Monday. It’s pretty sickening someone like this calls themselves a conservative? Kinda like Stephen Taylor.

  6. BillyHW says:

If we really cared about Haiti we would conquer it, make it a colony, force it to live under our laws, and shoot anyone who resists.

  7. KP says:

After a few visits to assist in Haiti, I feel bad for the people on a daily basis. Life in P-A-P was hell for most before the earthquake. It can only be hell on steroids now.

Bulldoze the whole mess, make it a world project to make it a liveable city with paved streets, running water, electricity, sanitary facilities. But make the Hatians do the work to instill pride in what they have.

Gifts from strangers, while nice, have no value in the long run. The strangers will just give more…..they need ownership.

Just my opinion. And build to code!!!

  8. Never been there. I did see it once from the flight deck of Independence a long time ago. Green mountains from that far away. Didn’t care then, don’t really care now.
But on the other hand, my Navy is there in force to assist in any manner possible and with USS Carl Vinson it is a fair amount. A floating water desalinization plant, power plant and medical facility along with USNS Mercy which is a huge floating hospital will be more than welcome. US Atlantic Fleet comes through!
And damn it is good to have you back, young lady!

  9. INP says:

Good grief. Lets just let all Haitains switch places with all the Jews in Israel. Within a generation, Israel would be a barren, AIDS infected, human garbage dump and Haiti would be the most vibrant, wealthy, prosperous country in the West Indies.

Why is Africa a despicable, horrific, cesspool of genocidal massacres, AIDS, rape and bastard children? Because its full of Africans.

Sadly, it’s the same for Haiti.

In 6 months the MSM will have moved on to more current and juicy affairs, likely involving some major terrorist attack in the West that kills thousands. And Haitains, like the Jews, will continue to do what their collective intellectual capacity allows. Only in opposite ways.

Is there a bigger idiot that Jason Kenney? Good idea, let a whole pile in, forget any health or background checks. And let’s not to pause to consider what they will do when they get her. And let’s ignore all the people that have been waiting patiently for years to get in LEGALLY. Another Canadian political clown, cowtowing to minorities. Speaking of which, I just want to post this gem from Peter Kent, former broadcaster and now conservative MP.

Speaking to a summit of Jamaicans being held in Toronto:

“Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Americas), Peter Kent noted that Jamaican Canadians form an essential part of the country’s mosaic”

Ahahahahaha! “Essential”? Essential to keeping our police force employed, as well as jailguards and funeral homes. Peter Kent, you are in idiot.

  11. KP says:

AMH1, I too made my first visit there courtesy of the US Navy. I have also seen it from offshore aboard CV-66, and served ashore as an Army officer.

The Vinson’s capabilties are unquestionably impressive, however, she will be offshore, and the facilities will be of limited use because people will have to be flown or boated out. We shall see how it goes. She can make about 300,000 gallons of potable water daily. All they need is a way to get it in.

Mercy will be a valuable asset, however, port facilities will be a problem as well. I am sure we can work it out though. We are Americans!!!

Now, INP…what you say may be true, but we are like the ram at the wall. Eventually we will break through. The thing I don’t get is that politicians and “diplomats” keep pouring money is and do not demand change, with the consequence of failure to change as no more money, no more help.

But it is absolutely wrong to condemn them (Africans and Hatians) because of where they are. Some of those who manage to get away do quite well. The culture of corruption is what keeps them down. A bit different than “Da Man is keeping me down”, because “Da Man” is a brother. Scared of success???

  12. KP-Got them SH-60 Seahawks for the shuttle system.

  13. Maureen says:

I agree – in a twisted way this is the best thing that could happen to Haiti – bulldoze most of PAP, house the residents in temporary camps and anyone of them who wants to earn money building PAP from the bottom up are welcome. They will get better houses, better roads, sewers, everything. But what are the chances that that will happen? None!!!

  14. Vardit says:

Nobody gives a damn about any country really if they are not a citizen of that country. Sure, many may get “protest” rights so they can become part of a clan, but their lives go on before and after protests.
However, one would have to be inhuman not to be pulled at the heartstrings to donate some money after watching the hell Haitians have inherited after the earthquake.

  15. jeremy says:

In the liberal book the Shock Doctrine, the argument is made from a liberal standpoint of how painful rebuilding economies can be after shocks, but the initial pain of the Freidman approach always, always leads to a stronger Conservative nation. We can only pray that Haiti is rebuilt with a stronger government and better trade policies.

  16. AlanH says:

    GOTR,
You dropped some serious cred in my eyes with this post. I’ve considered Haiti to be the armpit of the Caribbean for years. But the earthquake response is about people showing compassion in the face of a tragedy. Not supporting or contributing otherwise hardly makes anyone a hypocrite. And you comment isn’t ‘ballsy” at all. Its cheap.

  17. Maureen says:

I’m glad our government is sending aid, paid for by taxpayers. I will use whatever remaining money I have after paying taxes to support groups closer to home.

  18. Ho Chi Min says:

This post is a disgrace, this is the most stupid blog on the entire internet. Right Girl is a fucking moron, and all you people are just ignorant sheep.

  19. wow….”most stupid blog on the entire internet”? Someone has actually read every blog on the Net and determined that RG’s is the worst?

    That’s awesome.

Thanks for pointing out hypocrisy when you see it, Wendy.

BillyHW and KP make strong points above; basic emergency help is a must, but trying to rebuild Haiti without a sound infrastructure and an uncorrupted government will be like Jesus’ parable of building a house on sand. The next earthquake, tsunami, whatever else will simply wipe out anything that is accomplished.

  21. The Lone ranger says:

Good comments on Jason Kenney and Peter Kent. Why are the negro nations such a disaster? Haiti has always been a disaster area, the earthquake that destroyed what was left of their dilapidated buildings only brought attention to a failed staten that keeps on failing. South Africa is going the same way with the most violent crime rate in the world. Funny how that only happened when the negroes took over. Before anyone accuses me of blatant racism, I ask you this:

Show me one negro nation, or even a city that has grown, flourished and developed without the white mans help?

    I thought so……
