If you don’t want me to read you, just say so

I’m cleaning out my Google Reader in time for the new year, and this means taking out some wonderful bloggers. You see, I rarely click over to domains anymore – everything feeds in through my reader. And if you don’t publish your full feed, I just don’t read the important words you have to say. So here’s who’s going:

Angela Booth’s Fab Freelance – headline and one sentence is rarely enough to grab me, though she does write catchy headlines
Conservative Examiner – Lord knows I love Kathy, but short feeds irritate me. I shall continue to read her best stuff over at Five Feet
Small Dead Animals – If someone outright recommends one of Kate’s articles, I will click over.
Dr. Dawg – I’m sure he’ll weep over losing me!
Little Miss Attila – There is no good reason she should be using a short feed
Argghhh! – My beloved Kansas host. His short feed doesn’t even indicate who the writer of the post is!
and last but not least:
Michelle Malkin – Michelle even has her feed monetized for ad revenue, but still insists we click to the main site. This is a redundant process.

Call it bitchiness, or call it Web 2.5, but if you won’t accommodate people who use readers regularly, why should we accommodate you?

UPDATE: Thanks to my readers for letting me know that Little Miss Attila and Kate at SDA both have full feeds available!

Whew, what a relief, I didn’t make the cut list… oh, yeah, that’s right. You probably don’t read my blog in the first place. Oh well.

(I’m new at this, what’s a Google “reader”?)

  2. Right Girl says:

I kept you in my reader, Al – but go into your settings and publish your FULL draft or you won’t make the next cut! ;)

  3. Two Dogs says:

I am certainly glad that you are making the comment about full feeds, no one would listen to me if I said it. I kept Malkin because she is getting a free ride from me forever.

Dang, Big Al, put down your chisel and tablet, then jump kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. Google Reader is a feed reading program that keeps your favorite blogs and newsites at your fingertips. Sign up and start using it, you shall never go back to bookmarking in your browser ever again. All of your daily reads delivered to your doorstep, sir.

But, link no one that doesn’t publish full feeds, they suck.

  4. Scott says:

Do you use the sharing feature in Google Reader? If so, would you consider sharing your “shared items” RSS feed?

  5. Right Girl says:

    Scott, it’s down the sidebar.

  6. Deborah says:

Hi, I read your blog but never comment . . . Small Dead Animals started publishing a full feed a few months ago. Try using this link for Google Reader: http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/atom.xml :-)

  7. Tim says:

I first came upon your site several years ago via a link from Small Dead Animals. SDA is the first blog I read when I sit down at my computer and yours is quite often second. If you don’t see the value in keeping these connections alive then I hope that you will consider how much you have gained from the other blogs and how much you might loose without them.

  8. Right Girl says:

You’re a bit reactionary, aren’t you Tim? Did I say I was outright boycotting Kate? Did I issue a fatwa against her? I’m taking her out of my Google reader. She’s a big girl, wearing big girl panties. She can handle this news, trust me.

PS – I will update the post shortly to reflect that my good friend Little Miss Attila does indeed now have a full feed. Yay!

Small Dead Animals has a full feed at a different link:

  10. Dr.Dawg says:

Gosh, I have a feed in plain view. I think. Check my sidebar–scroll down. (XML). Or am I missing something?
